My Period is Late. What Do I Do?

My Period is Late. What Do I Do?

Think you could possibly be pregnant? You may feel a little on edge now, but you are not alone. Get answers,  beginning with a pregnancy test. A Choice for Women can help you take your next steps and support you along the way.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms

A clear sign of pregnancy is a missed period unless you experience irregular periods. If your cycle is irregular, a pregnancy can be more challenging to predict.

According to the Mayo Clinic, some common signs of early pregnancy include the following:

  • Tender, swollen breasts.
  • Nausea with or without vomiting
  • Urinating more often than usual
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Bloating
  • Light spotting
  • Cramping
  • Constipation

Begin With a Pregnancy Test

Even though a missed period is a common pregnancy symptom, it doesn’t always point to pregnancy. Taking a pregnancy test too early can cause a false negative. Take a pregnancy test at least one day after your missed period for the most accurate results.

What If It’s Positive?

If you do receive a positive pregnancy test, an ultrasound is the next step to understanding your pregnancy and your options. We offer free pregnancy

tests; if the test is positive, we can provide a free ultrasound on a case by case basis.

If your test at A Choice for Women is positive, we can provide financial assistance. To qualify, you will need to come in and talk to one of our counselors.
